Star value cannot be taken for granted and producers know this better that anyone else when they enlist actors to sing in promotional videos. It works well for the film, but does it make short shrift of real singers?

Yes, it surely is a form of unpaid publicity and helps in creating a buzz around the film. All forms of publicity cannot be paid publicity. But it's not like the creative behind the film are asked to make such videos for us
